Driver films scary moment when Japanese tsunami hit

Amazing footage has emerged of a lucky escape amidst the horror of last week's tsunami that followed the earthquake in Japan.

While driving along a coastal road, one man's car was engulfed in the wave that breached the sea defences. Admitting his panic, the driver kept his cool and stayed in his car until the waters receded, an action he acknowledges that probably saved his life.

The driver told local media there was nothing he could do except keep going: "When I turned the corner I could see the wall of water. At that moment I could do nothing else but keep driving.

"Water came up and the car was floating in the water. I was panicked, the water was probably two metres high. If I came out of the car I thought I would be caught in the water as well so I thought I would wait until it had come down."

Watch the incredible moments above and one man's, thankfully, very lucky escape.

Just imagine if you were driving that car ...
