Thoughts on Chip Implants and Their Power Supply

OK, I have been reading a lot about Intel building a chip that can be implanted in the brain and that would allow for web connectivity amongst other things and I got to thinking that a) what a great idea and b) supplying power to the chip would be an issue ... who wants to carry a Lithium-Ion Battery inside or outside of their body?

So, what if someone did research on developing a drink (fuel) that would affect our blood in such a way as to provide a small amount of electricity targeted at a specific metal on the chip?  That is, Bio-Chip GatorAde for example, a small shot each day or week or whatever and your chip would hum along and you would stay connected.

Obviously solving the chip-human interface is the first major hurdle, but why not take it all the way ...

Longer term the food supply would already contain the chemistry necessary to power these chips and like Fluoride in the water ... it would be ubiquitous and acceptable.

Just a thought :-)
